A bit pricey..........but dangit, I`m worth it!:D
How would you rate them compared to the standard Fender nickel rounds if I may ask ?

I voted 'Other' for a DR string not on your list, DR Fat Beams. Brighter than Sun Beams, have a great growl to them but still have that 'snap' you want when you slap or tap or dig in, are very smooth (the smoothest SS string I've tried) and, for me, last forever before going dead. They are round core like Sun Beams or Dunlop Super Brights, but I don't find them flubby or loose.

I have them on a G&L Jazz bass and they sound great - and I have them on two other basses as well.

They are my GOTO for rounds. In my avatar, my J & PJ are strung w/TI`s. Been on for 6 mos now and still holding true. My P has flats.
All Fender strings I own are in my "stockpile", should I ever need a quick replacement. I`ve never found them to last very long.

That’s a curve ball. Your description makes them sound ideal. I had DR balanced Nickel on my shorty Stingray and was really impressed. I now have a short list of:
TI round
DR High Beams
DR Fat Beams
Elixir
I think I’ll try them in height ascending cost.

D’Addario XL nickels are somewhere towards the brighter end of nickel roundwounds, feel comfortable, last a long time and don’t cost a lot. LaBella nickel roundwounds are also very bright and have good longevity.

It you want to stick with stainless steel, SIT and DR are very smooth compared to Rotos. I haven’t used SIT in years but I remember them lasting pretty well.

From your list I would go with the Hi Beams. Counterintuitively, Hi Beams have a lot of low end but they’re smooth and flexible and they have plenty of clarity, too.

Overall, though, D’Addario XL Nickels would be my go-to based on what you describe as your needs. A good all-rounder string with good highs.
+1. I suggested DR Fat-Beams but the XLs are also very zingy and keep their upper mid zing for a long time.

I played the stainless steel and nickel 66s for over a decade before switching brands. They're the roughest strings I've ever played and both sets even made my fingers bleed while practicing! While they have an incredible sound, that sound can easily be obtained through plenty of other strings for less money.

I guess it depends how much "zing" you want. Sunbeams have a little less sparkle than a SS string would but in my experience they keep their highs for a lot longer. A worn sunbeam sounds more like a new roto than an worn roto does IMO. YMMV.

I've never had that issue, I suppose I don't have soft fingers. Regarding the price, at $25 I'm sure their are others but not many for less and virtually every other set mentioned is $10-$20 more and in some case double the price. Roto=$25 Elixirs=$50 TI Jazz=$100.

I would also second the Fat Beams. The low mid content of the strings after they settle were great with my G&L JB as well.
