It turned to be mainly an amp problem (piezo tweeter of my MB mini CMD). For some reason the combination of that bass with that particular amp was terrible at some venues.
The bass is still a little bit noisy in electrically bad grounded venues or when recording at home, but perfectly usable. I still own it, it's my main gigging bass today (I use others for recording)
