Fender American Performer Mustang bass flatwounds?

Hi, I have a new through the body strung Fender American Performer Mustang short scale bass. I am looking for flatwounds for it. I tried Dunlop 100's short scale and they are TOO SHORT! What flatwounds are decent strings that will fit?

People love them or hate them, but I think TI jazz flats (JF324) qualify based on your question. That's what's on my mustang PJ (not through body, but the strings are plenty long).

You need a string with a winding length from ball end to silk of at least 33-1/8" and then you'll be fine.

CORRECTION: 33-3/8" is what you need if measuring from the outside of the ball end.
33-1/8" is inside ball to the silk.

You need medium scale flats if going with D'Addario, La Bella ( they make a set specifically for Mustangs called 760F-MUS ), GHS. Pyramid you need their short scale set.

Short scale TI Jazz flats will definitely be long enough

I have Chromes (medium scale length) on mine. Thomastik short scale flats will fit the medium scale mustang, too.

I can verify that Dunlop medium scale strings will fit a Mustang correctly...these are the flats...plenty of clearance, the fat part of the E winds over the peg a little but not very far.

If you're still looking or wanna try something else then I highly recommend the Labella flats for mustang bass.To me they're the perfect feel and tone AND they're only string I know of that's actually made specifically to fit a stringthrough Mustang.The silks are also the correct length on the tuner end and on the body end.
