DI recorded, unedited samples or a common amplifier that everyone knows the sound of would be helpful.

I will say that Fenders video from their site is what convinced me to pull the trigger on the '58. It sounds like bull, but through my headphone amp, it IS the sound I was hoping for. I'm also convinced flats were played by Michael Rhodes on the 58 in the vid. The lows and upper mid presence are undeniable. I was originally poised for either the Sonic or Seminole (rosewood) until I heard the video. I don't trust the homespun youtube stuff that has not been run through a quality DI interface. Of all the basses in that video, the 58 truly stood out as the best as far as what I was looking for.

there are not many '62 sound samples either.

AMS has 2 scratch and dent which most likely are in mint condition for mid $1500. I have my mouse pointing "complete the order"

Not to sound like a pessimist or a skeptic or a "know it all" but no 2 bass guitars ever sound the same.

And, in addition.....................

And even if someone or many provide sound clips of an AVRI P Bass, there are soooooo many variables that affect the sound. Eqing, strings, pick, fingers, area of plucking, speakers, amp, light or heavy plucking................many, many things.

I would not put too much creedence in sound clips (as if our computer's cheesy little speakers can do justice in producing quality sound.).

This and I'll add I find sounds clips generally tell you more what someone's playing/finger tone sounds like and rather little about what the actual bass sounds like with you playing it.

Whenever I feel low I plug my 62 in and its warm sound brings instant smile and so much joy to me.

The biggest thing changed from 62-63 is the 62 has a slab rosewood board where the 63 will have the Veneer rosewood board, otherwise they are pretty much the same. Maybe the 63 will be a little brighter & snappier.

There are other differences, as some else posted the pick up is different, I would have to take a look at a 63 headstock, but I own a 62 reissue and a new 58 American vintage, and the 58 definitely has a smaller headstock. The 62 also have a 1.75 with neck, and the 63 specs state the neck width to be 1.74. A miniscule difference, but I have played the 63 and I like the neck more than the flat wide neck of the 62. My 58 specs at 1.735 and it is by far the most comfortable P bass I have played. The 58 does have a fatter neck than the 63 in my opinion, but I like a chunky neck as I have medium large hands and I feel that it contributes to tone.

I'm interested in buying a 63 precision bass. Does anyone have soundclips of this bass (or can you record some)?

I know there's a video from Fender but the way it is played doesn't do it justice I think. The 58 reissue sounds really good in the video.

I sort of agree, but these models are relatively rare. There isn't a music store within 30 miles of me that has a 63 that I can play, and I live in a huge metropolitan area. Sometimes you just want to get an idea of what a bass is like before you put in the legwork to actually track one down and get your hands on it.
