fender.ampeg

I ordered a fender v3 rumble 200 with 1x15" and i wanted to add an extention cab. so Im figuring the ampeg svt210av micro stack with 2x10s rated 8 ohms 200 watts would work fine to get a nice tone classic rock small to med venues but im starting to hear coments like they might not phase and sound like poop possibly anybody know for sure?

Unless your always mic'd/DI'd through FOH unmatched cabs will cause frequency holes out front in various areas. They might sound fine on stage and some places out front but it will be inconsistent.

thats why i saw the ampeg as an unique and intresting match with the rumble, untill i heard all the phasing b/s it would be a perfect sound nice warm lows through the 15" fender and the kick from the 2 10" ampeg micro stack. but noooo! everyones got to bust my brain. oh it might, it might not work like im hearing it in my head the perfect blend.

From my experiences with fender rumble and ampeg cabs, the ampeg 210 would be warmer than the fender 115.

are you saying you mixed the rumble and ampeg cab? if you did i take it phasing was not an issue?it could be outher way around 2/10 warmer and 15" less warmer im down with that. i just dont want to find out the "match" sounds like poop. and have holes at the rear of the venue be it small to med.

No, I'm not a fan of mixing cabs. Tried it once and didn't like it. I'm saying I have a fender rumble 410 and have used other rumbles. I also have owned an ampeg 115 combo and played several ampeg backlines. Ampeg's sound much warmer to me than a fender. If you want some warmth, get a matching rumble 115 to go with the one you have and buy something like a VT bass pedal to run in front of it. It'll get you that ampeg sound without mix matching cab issues.

i just talked with a guy from a guitar store and he assured me id have no issues with mixing the ampeg svt210av micro with the fender 200 rumble with 15" speaker. he said sensitivity might be a issue he said he would put a volume control on it and i would be able to balance the volume between the cabs i saved 100.00 and besides the wife said we are at the top of our budget and have no room for 100.00 at this point in time after i put together a band and start giging i can use that money to go into more equipment (stack) fender bassman pro with a nice bottom or two or possibly ampeg svt tube model w matching bottoms or whatever the heck i want cerwin vega folded horn a bassmen 8 10 bottom and a sunn series bass concert head who knows.

Not sure I get what he means by putting a volume control on the cab or is he talking about the amp?

I'm guessing unless he owns and has gigged with that setup, he has no clue what he's talking about. I'd trust the many experienced voices of fellow talkbasser's with gigging experience over any person I've met who works in a guitar shop. But, good luck to you, man.
