Since there was a thread recently about Fenders and I recently picked up, and now play, a Fender P-Bass again (after a 25 year hiatus from Fenders), I am interested in seeing as many Fender pics as possible.

Mine came with a very ugly (IMO) white pickguard. I ordered a tortoise shell to replace it, but in the meantime I painted the white one black. It looks much better with a black pickguard than a white one.

I'll have pics later, but for now I wanted to see everyone's pics of their Fenders (Jazz or Precisions)...just to see what color combinations you chose.

I prefer the classic '62 Fender Precision in sunburst with a tort pickguard and rosewood fingerboard (pics of mine tomorrow).

What do you have?

Nice bass!

I'm not opposed to white pickguards as a rule. I think they look great on light colored basses (pastel and white) or a white pickguard on a black bass.

But a white pickguard on sunburst just looks out of place and rather cheap looking. Though to me, it's hard to make a Fender look bad. :)

Those look great! Especially the black and tort Jazz. Great photos too.

Do the Alembic pups still give you the traditional Fender sound?

Since a lot of people here are into boutique basses and love showing them off, I thought I'd give us Fender lovers a shot too. :)

The "B" is fine when I play it. However, strangely enough the "E" string seems to have died faster than the others. It doesn't have the definition of even the "B"! Time for a new set of strings I suppose, though these ones are only about 4 years old (young for me).

Nice looking P-Bass!

That's what my P-Bass will look like after I get the tort pickguard, though the body is sunburst.

Is that a Hercules stand? I got the Hercules neck holder. I love how the weight of the bass makes it lock down. I mounted it to my amp and when I play out my amp sits on a case and my bass hangs. No more stands to drag around. In my bass pic, you can see the bass leaning into it on the left side of my amp.

I like the black pickguards on light (natural) basses. The only thing that would make it better would be if the finish was natural so you could see the wood. But that is a cool looking bass. I love the stark contrast between the bass and the pickguard.

To me it has the same effect as a black bass with a white pickguard.

I notice it has the tags hanging on it. Thinking of buying it? :)
