Fender bassman 800 entering protection mode too fast.

My fender bassman is enterming protection mode after probably 15min. I think that the fan is faulty, That happened today after 2 hours on. Now it only last 15 min before protection mode. I dont hear the fan. Thats common?

Per the following post, Fender says the fan should run all the time. The thread says the fan is quiet in this amp.

hmmm...so called Fender and they're assuring me that the fan running constantly, never turning off, is 100% normal...

seems like it's not normal for a fan to run 100% of the time...but I've been out of the game for a few years and can't remember exactly the behavior of other heads I've owned...seems like the fans would come on as needed but weren't "always on"

If the fan is not running, the amp may overheat.

If the fan is running, try a different cab and speaker cable.

Per the OM, minimum load is 4 ohms. Confirm you speaker load is 4 ohms or higher.

The amp may go into protect if the AC power in your house is out of range.

If all is good and the amp continues to shut down, time for a technician to take a look.

Be sure your cabinet impedance is correctly labeled, and that nobody "modified" it or incorrectly repaired it.
