I recently acquired a 1966 Dual Showman and I want to use it with my Bassman Neo 115 cab. I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with a 4ohm speaker replacement for this cab or has any recommendations.
I have an email out to Eminence to see if they have any recommendations.
Yes I know the transformer can probably handle the 8 ohm speaker but this amp has already had the transformer replaced once (I’m guessing the original owner didn’t realize it was a dual showman, but I’ve checked the transformer and it is in fact the 4 ohm transformer for the dual showman.) and I plan on gigging this amp heavily and I don’t want to risk anymore problems.
I know speaker swaps aren’t ideal in bass cabs and that the cab is tuned for the stock speaker. I’m not looking for more volume or anything — I’m just looking for a 4 ohm speaker that will get me close for this cab. TIA!
