fender bassman??

Basically whoever threw it out is a complete and total dumbass.

+1. Also, it seems a few people are confused, his bassman is not the silverface Bassman 50, but the blackface Bassman. In terms of collectability, people generally prefer the AB165 model of the bassman to the Silverface versions. As for value, these have sold for up to 1000 dollars if it is in great physical condition, and sounds fine with no issues with electronics.

Hi.

Basically whoever threw it out is a complete and total dumbass.

Well, the OP may disagree ;).

I know I would if I was in his shoes.

Then again, if the guts and/or the transformers are toast, there's not much to build from. Still worth a few hundred as spares though, so not a bad dive.

Oh, and another vote for "keep it", and also a vote for not re-tolexing it. Unless done professionally.
Even then, I'd much rather buy a new headcase for it and keep the mojo-loaden old headcase to be used if necessary.

Regards
Sam

Hey if you have an amp & you aint ganna use it, make sure it goes to someone who will appreciate and restore it. I resored a Fenderbassman 135, 70's mod, l did all the vavles some capacitors & diodes, but took it to an expert to check the transformer out and bios the new groove tubes l put in it. Its the best bass amp lv ever had.

yea I hear ya, that's why I checked what it was when I found it in the dumpster. I wasn't going to at first cause I just assumed it was garbage. I never expected it to be anything. Anyway I e-mailed my local music store to see about getting it checked out by a tech. Last I knew they had a repair center so I'm trying to find out if they have anyone experienced with these older tube amps. I'll keep ya updated. I had originally planned on trying to do it myself but that prob won't end well seeing I have no clue about this type of stuff. I like to buy stuff and fix it up to sell or keep depending what it is but I don't want to take a chance in ruining something like this.

Here's a couple pics, as you can see it's a little rough but it was free so.

All the tubes are there but one was just rattling around in the back so I popped it back in the socket. It's also missing one of the smaller tube covers. I have an appointment tuesday to have a tech look at it.
