Fender Blacktop P Bass?

Has anyone played/own one? I've been contemplating purchasing one but have yet to actually decide. I understand they're made in Mexico which explains the $500 price range, but I have no Guitar Center locally and very limited "close to home" music shops. I've watched a review on Youtube and a few people covering songs with one and they sounded pretty good but I'm still weary "as I always am with purchasing new gear".
What's the general consensus on Made in Mexico basses from Fender?

I recently got an MIM Blacktop Jazz. It's as solid as Hell, feels/sounds great and has a beastly aggressiveness that leaves little to be desired ('cept for a painted headstock). I got no complaints whatsoever…

…except for that damn headstock! I really, REALLY dig painted headstocks. But I suppose THAT level of awesomeness would be dangerous in the hands of an amateur such as I. ;)

Hey Malak. Who is the character in your avatar?
Eclipso?

Given the tight close-up, I can see why you'd think that, but it's not him.

Also, here's the scene it's from. Y'know…for a bit o' context.
