Fender Boxer vs LTD Surveyor 87

Hey Guys!

I used to own a Duff McKagan Signature Bass (the first one they made, pearl white, around 2009), I sold it some years ago because of financial reasons.
Well those problems are over, and while i made different sounds and thus thought I no longer need the “Duff Sound” (which I was emulating for many years).
But I find myself really wanting to go back to a PJ, and there are 2 that really stand out, both tributes to those awesome 80s PJs - the fender Boxer reissue and the LTD Surveyor ‘87.
I am currently leaning to the Surveyor, since i really love the Rainbow Crackle looks, also i would not need to change the bridge on that one. Then again, the Boxer is THE reissue of the classic Duff Bass, and it is MIJ, so it probably has a higher quality standard.

Do any of you guys have experience with either of them or both?
How do they hold up sound-wise?

The Surveyor '87 is totally badass. I bought one a few months ago and have been playing the hell out of it. It smoked the Fender American Performer that I was going to pick up in every way. Ended up taking the ESP and I have zero regrets.

No experience with the Boxer.

I have both an original and reissue Boxer. The reissue has quickly become one of my favorite basses. I love the jumbo frets on it and it plays like butter. And sounds incredible! My reissue has flats on it, but out of the box with the stock round wounds, it just sounded awesome! Plus the advantage of Japanese quality! Japanese Fenders are killer basses for sure!

I decided to go for the Surveyor - it was a simple choice now as i had a Gift card for Thomann, and they are out of Boxers.
I am looking forward to trying it out when it arrives

Those are two punchy basses. Great sound either way.

No idea.
I want a hipshot d Tuner installed, but the required model is discontinued.
It has been sitting at a Luthier‘s place for 2 weeks so he can see if he can build in a different model, but he has not even done the research yet; i am kinda bummed about that …
