Fender case hardware?

Hi all,

Anyone know where I can find any hardware for my Fender case? Only the center clasp is holding my P bass case shut and so I always carry it with one finger sticking out just in case the one center latch gives way. I guess I would have to drill out the rivets to replace the two outer latches. It appears that someone broke the latches because they were locked. (who ever uses those locking latches anyway???) Thanks for any replies.

WOW.

You waited 5 months to get pissed? Fantastic!:D

Seriously though, I have seen similar latches at some hardware stores. Or have you checked with a local music shop, or even Fender? And what shape is the case itself in? Maybe replacing the case is the best option?

And FWIW, my first bass has some cheesy guitar shaped case that felt like it was made from heavy cardboard with tolex or some such thing over it. The latches were so small and cheap that I used an old cotton boyscout type belt around the case and through the handle to keep it shut and keep the bass from falling out! (Hey it was the 80'sand it looked rock or punk enough that people thought it was cool..)

Since you say your Fender case has the two locking outer latches, is this a tolex G&G case?
Try contacting G&G for replacement latches.

Otherwise call up Lightning Joe's...he's probably the only store in that area that would have a clue about any latch replacements.

Thanks Guys!

I finally did run down the exact right parts from G&G. Cool place to deal with. Just sent a check made out to some guy I emailed there and... few days later comes an envelope full of the latches and even some extra 'rivets' that are used to attach the latches.
It is the stock Fender case that came with the P-bass and in fairly good condition, so it was worth fixing. I just had to find the right parts source.
