hi forum buddies i was just in long and mcquade today and i was playing a fender custom classic. now i'm thinking about getting it but i cannot decide between neck types for the 3-colour burst with a tort pickguard. there will be no way to try out the other basses so i need advice that will lead me to a hypothesis on what i'll want

so my questions are
1. does anyone have it
2. how do y'all like the neck
3. what type's better
4. what type looks better

warwick thumb bolt-on
EBMM 20th anniversary stingray 5 (maple)
MIM Fender p-bass (rosewood)

i'm looking for somethign different than these

Great instrument. You can see and feel the Custom Shop "touches". I like the way nitrocellulose sounds like when you rub it with your finger. The statement may sound weird, but, even touching the body is different. The neck is a fast player. Fretwork topnotch. Smooth in the hand like my Lull v4. The pearl inlay looks great. I'm not sure how it affects the sound if at all.

The only Classic Jazz I've seen/played is the one I'm selling - which in itself is somewhat of a counter-anachro-intuive response to your question. :hiding:

I love my CS Classic Jazz. Don't like the active pickups. I should rephrase that. I'm just not an active systems guy.

Just got mine yesterday after a 10 month wait - got the 5 string. Ebony transparent w/ maple board. It looks awesome! And more importantly it plays like a dream - truly a custom shop product.

If you're looking into the 3-tone sunburst then I would suggest going with the rosewood board for the true vintage look and sound (alder/rosewood). But if you go for any of the transparent finishes then I would suggest the maple - the ash/maple combo makes for a snappy slap happy bass! Haha.

Get it... You won't be disappointed. Well worth the wait - better yet, if they already have it at your local store.

Great and often overlooked Fender basses.

The bodies are thin nitro finished but the necks are satin poly. CS quality, modernish looks with decent active electronics and noiseless PUPs, interesting package, and less expensive than the TMs by a bit.
