Fender custom shop $18K

Beautiful, would love to have a n American Made Urge, but not for $18k even if it was owned by one of my fave players, and was played the one time i saw him with Satch back in the day. Now a non Custom Shop for around $1200, that would fit the bill.

I've always liked Stu's concept of a J/P/J Bass, which came from a request from Joe while recording "The Extremist" to get a less active, more "Rock" tone on that more "Analog"-sounding Invalid Link Removed-produced album from his Kubucki Basses, which led to him installing a Precision pickup between his Kubucki's 2 very modern-sounding Humcancelling Soapbars (as well as Jason Newsted's J/P/J-equipped Alembic Elan w/ Series II Electronics) and I absolutely think his tone improved upon the "Urge II" line of Basses... IMO due to a combination of the move from 32" to 34" scale length and the Kubicki-based electronics on the U1 that gave him a bit of a muddy tone. I also dig what Fender did to come up with a 5-string P-pickup circa '96 with the Bartolini-shaped housing with offset, Precision-esque offset polepieces and think it sounds about a million times better then the modified Jazz Plus V 5-string he used previous to this bass, which can be heard on the first 1996 G3 CD/VHS/DVD which he used until Fender made his a true "Urge II 5-String". And toss in an uber-metalflake finish, and you've got a bass that I'd personally love to own!

But not at the price of my "Dream Bass"... and Amplification Rig... as well as a new car! ;) And I doubt that the bidding will get up that high, if only for the simple reason that Stu, while extremely well-know among Bassists and other Musicians, has never crossed over to "non-Industry" people, such as names like Sting, McCartney, Sid Vicious, etc... his isn't a name "The Public" knows.
