I would like to try a CS Jazz before I die, and started looking around at the used market, mainly Reverb. I would like to try the '60 Jazz with stacked knobs model, but the prices I'm seeing are anywhere from $2750 to $5000+ for these models. I'm trying to figure out what the differences are, especially in the highly reliced models, and why the wide variation in pricing. Of course, its almost impossible to tell what kind of shape the reliced ones are, and other than year of manufacture, I don't see much differences in these particular models. They all come with authentication papers, hardshell case with candy, so I'm interested in any and all comments, on this model or the Custom Shop in general.

Some of the variation can come from the specific models - an artist model will cost more, for instance. in the $5,000 range, I would expect those to be Masterbuilt or limited runs (rare). Or, they might just be over priced.

Yeah I get that. The models I'm looking at, other than being reliced and special color, don't seem to have much differences, at least as far as the specs go. I have yet to see an " artist " model for this bass. I mean, I'm assuming that anyone who wants a 1960 stacked knob Jazz wants the specs from that era, but maybe I'm wrong ?
