hit or miss with custom shop basses.
Although late, just preference/CS approach, I think.Just a question at the CS experts: regarding actual CS jazz basses I've seen, there is no strap pin/button on the headstock backside. In opposition to the AV reissues, they all have on.
So whta's the reason? Only the CS logo?
Regards
Andreas

Fender used the so-called "hootenanny button" on all their basses from 1960 to 1969. So, any recreation of a bass of that era should ideally have it; it is just that the Fender Custom Shop chooses not to include it, for the CS logo to be in a more "clean" area, I tend to believe.I might be way off here,,but I would guess that fender only put that strap button on the headstock for a year or two. So if it was in 62 and 63 (total guess),, the 64 jazz basses that come out of that shop might not have them???
I think fender takes a little more liberty with the AV basses as far as making them period correct. For example, they don't drill holes for the pick up covers on the AV series, although they come with covers and the originals would have come with holes drilled.
I think my CS jazz is a 64 and does not have a strap button on the headstock. It does have all the right holes drilled.
I haven't had the chance to play a 60th anniversary Precision, but I can assure you that the CS stuff is the very best Fender has to offer. My 60th anniversary blonde p -bass sounds and plays great....How are they made..( production line)..? and how do they compare to a CS..?
