Fender Deluxe P/J Bass

But the problem with those if you read the fine print is that you can't use them for stuff you actually want. Big blockouts... no way could you use it to buy a decent Fender bass.
Actually, they have to advertise the exclusions, but they can sell any brand for anything they want. Shure is one of the most restrictive in that regard, but I've bought Shure mics at GC on a 20 percent coupon.

I wish I could remember if it was a certain time of year, just in case it happens again.
I once had one that included used gear. GC salesman told me that was a once-a-year deal but I couldn't tell if he was just saying it to appear knowledgeable, or what.
I think mine came around Christmas time. The downside is there is always tax on a GC purchase, Sweetwater is always tax free, at least for me in NJ, not sure about other state.
I literally get 2 to 3 GC 15% off coupons a week, its insane. They must miss me ;-)

I know, I'm in Jersey, too. That tax really becomes a problem when buying expensive gear. You get the discount, but suddenly you're shelling out more cash.

I had 2 special deluxes, I still have the one in my avatar. These had rosewood boards, active pickups and those ugly gold pick guards however the new version seems to have a heavier bridge and the maple board with black blocks. I assume the new version is also Mexican? it is $200 more than my version, those were $699 up until the new series released.

I bought a loaded body off a fellow tb'er who upgraded to the Geezer pups and Fender hi mass bridge, slapped on a rosewood neck from a mim deluxe jazz I had (from a bass I put a fretless neck on)...instant love, and currently one
of my favorite basses in my arsenal. Oh, yes the, seafoam pearl color...and yes ive seen the oly white too.

I get a coupon every couple of weeks. I have a 15 percent one right now.

Yeah, these are Made in Mexico. But I've been impressed with the quality - at least on the one I got. I got mine on sale from MF. (I think it was the Fathers Day sale LAST year.) When I ordered it, I was thinking I'd have to upgrade the pickups. But I was pleasantly surprised by the tone of the originals. The Olympic White version (in my original post) is the one selling for $200.00 more than your old Deluxe. But the Seafoam Pearl and the Sunburst are on sale now for $749.00. (I think the sale price might end tomorrow.) And like somebody said, if you call them, they might drop the price on the White one to match the other. I love my Seafoam one; but that Oly. White looks sweet too! drool

Hmmph! All these "wishes" for features to be changed or added onto this bass model from some of you posting in this thread. Lemme help, OK?

You are missing the one thing that would solve ALL your problems/wishes, dang it. It's frickin' simple, people.
Lemme say it again.

Put on a tort pickguard. Spruce even THAT up by having the attaching screw-heads match the body color.
There.
Perfecto.

NOW you can
drool

Oh, yeah.....

I have the old version with the 'gold' pickguard and have always thought it was cheesey compared to a metal guard. I got used to it and now I can stand it fine. My clip-on battery connection is better than the quick-change battery door on the MIJ/CIJ Jaguar. (no static when I tap on the back)

On my iPad, the MF listing shows Oly White on sale for $749.

That's odd. I just checked it again on my desktop iMac. It's still showing $899.00 for the White one. $749.00 for the Seafoam and the Burst. When you first go to the link, it says "Starting" at $749.00. But when you choose the specific colors, the White shows the higher price. Could you have just seen the "Starting At..." price? No big deal since I already have the Seafoam, but it would be great for somebody wanting to snag a White one if you're right.
