FYI, Olympic white is now on sale. You should call and check. You should be able to get a credit for the difference. If not, return it and repurchase! TY for the heads up. Been waiting for the sale again. Thigh up I'd have to wait til Black Friday! Considering this versus the new Sire V7... Any thoughts?I have one of these in the Seafoam Pearl Metallic, and I love it. As most of you know, it's been offered recently in the Seafoam and the Sunburst.
But I just noticed that it's now offered by MF in Olympic White. (The Seafoam and Sunbursts are now on sale, but the Olympic White is not.) Looks pretty nice! I apologize if this is old news. It was new to ME!

Yeah, I saw that the white is on sale for $750. I can't speak for the Sires, because I've never played one. The bassist at our church plays one and it sounds great. I stopped in at a tech's shop today. He's a friend of mine, and was giving my '75 Precision a good look to make sure everything's good. (I'm probably gonna' put it up for sale soon.) Anyway, he happened to have one of the Sires in his shop today, but the strings were off so I don't know how it sounded "up close and personal". It did seem a bit heavier than the Fender Deluxe P/J that I have. I've never heard anybody complain about the Sires, so that might be a good option for you. After reading some of these posts I'm have a question...why would you spend this type of money and consider a PUP change? Been playing or learning to play for under a year. Purchased a couple of Squier P Bass Specials. Keep one at work and one at home. I do love one of the two and considering changing the pups to a set of Duncan's for about $100-$135. I've been considering the active Deluxe PJ Special. First off why would someone spend this kind of money and even consider a PUP change?
Next question or thoughts, the Fender v a New Sire V7? Now before you reply, I know it will come down to having the instrument in my hands and what it feels and sounds like to me, but what are the differences in the quality, the hardware... Made in USA v MIM, sire v fender.
Last what do I gain or give up in making the Squier PUP upgrade. I know active v passive but will making the Pup upgrade get me near the Fender level?
TIA
Here's a recent video on this bass with upgraded Geezer EMG pickups. I got the exact same bass with the Geezers. The stock P sounds killer, but I hated the noiseless J in mine. The white looks awesome. I was skeptical about buying a MIM Fender, but the quality on these are top notch.
