Fender Deluxe PJ Special Pups

Hey all,
I have one of the older model P specials midnight blue/gold pickguard without the passive/active switch and I was wondering some things about it. First, are the pups themselves active or is it just an active preamp? Second, has anyone else with one of these thrown in a passive Geezer PJ set, and did you feel like it was an upgrade?

The stock pickups are passive. I would consider the Geezers a noticeable upgrade.

Cool, that was mostly what I was trying to understand. I figured it was just an active preamp but it was hard to find the specs.
