Fender Dimension bass

There is a new bass get available in my country it calles fender deluxe dimension bass .
Because high end and middle lvl basses are so rare in my country ,I got a lot of messages from friends that this bass got available go and get one .
But I don't know should I buy it .
I hate jazz basses ,feel they lack of bass and don't like sharp high end they usually make .
I like p bass but sadly p bass is not versatle .

So how is this bass ,does it sound good ?
Does is worth price ?

Here some pics from dealer .

Is it a good bass to be main bass because I don't have much bass .does it sound as fat as p bass ?!

Should I pick this or an Ibanez sr 500.

Precisions have been used and recorded in every genre of music ever. Saying they are not versatile is simply wrong.

Sure, plugged straight into an amp they're limited in altering the sound they make but the sound they DO make is near perfection. Don't dismiss them. If you get one it will serve you well for life.

THE dimension series has some that love them and some that hate them. BUT It seems that everyone that owns a GOOD normal precision bass simply love them. I know I do and I used to think I would be limited if I got one. It simply isn't true. Precisions simply get the job done and put a big grin on your face from the sheer power they put into the bottom end of any type of music.

I suggest you change your post title with "Fender Dimension bass" in it, if you want to draw people's attention and improve the response. If it's not possible, start a new thread.
Sorry, I don't have a Dimension. I understand it is a successful attempt by Fender to make a bass with two humbuckers.
Good luck to you

You just paraphrased "not versatile" & then denied that they're not, LMAO!
I don't want to derail the thread here, but the P is versatile in that it can be used for many different types of music. You don't necessarily need a huge range of tones for that. Just sayin'. :)

OP: Many TB'ers use and love the Dimension. It's a different animal than the Jazz and the Precision, but it's a good bass. This video will give you an impression of the difference between the three.

5 way switch in front of p bass is much bigger option ,add eq .
The p bass is good but it's matter of the way you play it .the way you keep finger change tone but there is not switch that help and you can't get ride of p bass when needed .
Because of that I said p bass is not the good option and limited .

The jazz bass lack in bass in low end .it's too much middy and high .

It is a phenomenal bass. I will give you a rundown of what it does.

The EQ is very musical sounding. Boosting the bass provides more roundness in tone than just a pure decibel boost. Treat the treble knob as you would a tone knob, it doesn't hiss or get too glassy on full. I used the mid control to compensate for pickup placement tonal characteristics, more on that later.

Switching between positions did not effect the total output of the bass, only the tone changes. That is outstanding in my opinion.

Switch position 1 is just the neck pickup. It can mimic a P bass with a bit of an EQ tweak. In my opinion it sounds more like a Jazz neck solo'd with no hum.

Position 2 is the outside coils. This has the deepest bass and highest highs while having a gravelly midrange. This is the J bass setting.

Position 3 is both humbuckers on full. Very powerful sounding and unique tone. I like to crank every EQ knob up on this setting.

Position 4 is the inside coils. This is the best reason to buy the Dimension bass. Position 4 lives somewhere between a J bass and a Musicman. Has a lot of balls and really just a raw and aggressive tone.

Position 5. Super Jaco.

Buy it... NOW!!!!!

I heard a band in our local bar last weekend. Bassplayer (who was very good) was playing a Fender Dimension. First time I had heard one in a live setting. I was surprised how good it sounded.
Different than a jazz bass. Lots of mid-growl (yes - I know, bridge pups on a jazz growl too - this was almost more Stingray-esque though. I'm probably confusing more than clarifying by trying to describe it so I'll stop now).

He had the version with only the bridge pickup - sounded great. Sat well in the mix. Band had guitar, keyboard and drums.

Regards
Mark

I think that the Dimension bass that you are looking at would be an excellent choice for you. With the two humbucking pickups , it has all of the tones available to cover a wide variety of musical styles and with the active preamp, you can add or subtract EQ easily to suit your taste as you are playing. Plus , it is a great looking bass. Go for it! I would pick this any day over the Ibanez , (IMHO ;))
