Fender Elite Prices

What you don't seem to know is the number of transactions the low end custom (one-off) builders are actually involved with. For all you economics knowledge you should be aware that a group representing a fraction of one percent of market share isn't going to move the needle.

they don't need to

it is my choice

I prefer to pay towards the lower end of the custom spectrum as opposed to pay at the top of the fender spectrum

your choice may vary

good luck to you

one on the way

when looking at price points and value ---I chose custom

to each his own

at 1500 or so

I would rather get a one off than some inflated name peice

that's me

you do you

Let's hope it is a keeper because you'll take a bath if you do not like it. One nice thing about buying a Fender is knowing I'll be able to get at least some of my money back out of it. The same is not true of a custom piece, particularly of a less known builder.

$1500 for a custom bass? With all due respect, that's a ridiculous number for a quality product. Nearly 1/2 of my arsenal of 18 basses are ones I have pieced together from unpainted parts. I'm not going to follow up a $100 worth of nitrocellulose with a $40 bridge and $80 pups. On average, I sink about $1200 into just parts on a build. I am not an Asian sweat shop, so my labor would come to more than $300 were I to calculate it. And I do not consider myself a master luthier. though I can manage a fret level and dressing. Things cost what they cost. And only a moron will give you free labor on such a thing.

This is true. Especially if you buy a used Fender. It's not going down in price. Play it for ten years and make a profit.
