My comment about Kodak sitting too far behind technology curve is an example from my college textbook a few years back. They were used as an example of not adapting to the market. Make of that what you will. My point of not sitting back behind the S shaped technology curve is valid either way.

I'm hoping that the tech curve doesn't get rid of all stringed instruments...

Point taken, and I agree that Kodak's demise IS an example of not adapting to the market, but truth be told THEIR market (developing film and printing photographs) actually shrank to almost nothing, it basically went away. However, fan frets are not a major element in the bass market, and I, for one, doubt they ever will be.

And I too hope that we never lose the use of real instruments in making music.
