I've seen pics of the new seafoam green silk. I think I like it better than the old green.

I’m a big fan of those basses. I like them better than the Fender MIM.

Absolutely. I'm selling my MIM because of it. It's lighter, sounds better and plays better.

They were the first flats I got into, about 25-30 years ago. Was a revelation having grown up on Roto rounds. I find the gauges of the sets a little odd for me now (depending on the set I end up with either a heavier G than I prefer, or a lighter E), so I use Labellas these days but I still think they sound excellent. If you want a classic flat to me it's either Labellas or Fenders.

You're talking about the 9050CL (Custom Light) set, 45-60-80-105. That was my favorite set as well.

See my post above. They were discontinued, then brought back for a short time, and discontinued again, never to return (at least not so far).

Keep in mind, though, the current Fender 9050 flats are very different from the original. GHS Precision Flats actually are the closest to the Fender flats from way back.

Interesting. Right now I'm using Labellas on two basses and Chromes on another - a new bass is hopefully in my near future and will give those a try to mix it up a bit.

I have a set on my Nate Mendel P, which has a PV '63 pickup. I think the bass sounds better with the Fender flats rather then the NPS rounds I had on it.
