Almost. They are not gold. But, they have some reflections to look like gold, from whatever angle you look at it.
It is very dark rosewood. I thad some sort of powder on it. But lemon oil took care. This was after the first run of lemon oil. Second run was all it took to make it smooth.
Has anybody who owns one of those Guitar Center passive PJ basses replaced the noiseless pickup, but left the split coil? I'm interested in something that might match the output of the P pickup a bit better. But as others have said, the split coil is great stock. I bought mine expecting to swap it with a EMG GZR set, but I think I might actually prefer the stock P sound. Maybe a ceramic single coil would pair well?

Great thread! Like to add my Honey-13 to the group, can I get a number? She's got the sleek neck, am-std pup, and a beautiful hand-rubbed nitro honeyburst finish. Plays like a dream has the best tone of any pbass I've ever owned. Previous owner scuffed up the arm contour with his picking, but it cleaned up nice. Was going to upgrade the pickup, but don't want to changethe tone! Put resolite tuners and a .1 poly tone cap in and just can't stop playing her! Very light too at about 8 lbs. Mine is a 2013 and looks like a single piece body. Can't see the seam.

Yes, pardon the crappy pics...MIJ with EMG GZR pickups. Thunderous PJ with a Jazz body and neck. Probably needs an aged pearloid pickguard.

Great neck indeed. The GZRs were already in there when I bought it. I have the originals but have never heard them. The original owner said the GZRs were a modest improvement IIRC. The tone of the GZRs is beefy; they’re said to be modeled on actual ‘60s Fender pickups.
Depends on how you count, I guess. Three or four.
I sold the 2012 Honeyburst P, as I could not get along with the neck. So now, the Old CAR MIJ PJ posted above, an MIJ Flower Power P, and a 2011/12 American Standard Natural Ash P with mahogany hand stain. I suppose you could also count the black MIJ JB66B with bound/blocked neck and matching headstock. It’s JDM, but the white version was imported as an FSR.

I have a MIM FSR P bass that is silver mist with rosewood board. The logo is a black Fender. I modified it with a hipshot D-tuner and a Lollar pickup and it kills. On the heavy side compared to my other basses.
Hi guys, this is officially my first post. Is this Fender Noir edition P. bass considered an FSR model? I purchased it new in 2017. I added the chrome pickup covers a few months ago and I happen to think it looks awesome. I want to replace the tuners with those long-stemmed vintage reverse tuners but finding them in South Africa is impossible.
