Fender Idenification

Check the date on the neck. That way you know for sure. I would almost bet that penny was put on by a previous owner. Or are you the original owner? You profile says you're 14 so my guess is that you didn't buy a bass 10 years ago :)

I know that there is info saying N9 can be 1990 but I would say that 98% of the time it will be a 1999 model. Like I said crack the neck and check the heel.

Where on the neck? I've never noticed anything.

And I hope crack the neck wasn't literal. ;)

Yeah, I bought it used in February for $800 at SamAsh, haha.

Billy K, The bass is most likely a Made in Mexico if the seller has any idea as to it's value. If it is in very nice condition, $200 is a reasonable price. The serial number will begin with an M (Mexico) example: (MN8xxxxx = 1998) Pay close attention to the neck and check and see if the truss rod is servicable. That is the main concern when buying a used bass. Everything else can be fixed if there is a problem. I always take a hex wrench with me when buying a used bass and I check the truss rod nut before buying.
