Fender Jaguar Bass Vintage vs. Modern

In the market for a Jaguar with the passive/active setup. Came across one from the '80's and then one from '08.

Was curious if anyone had any insight and what I could expect if I got either or? Or if you had a preference between the older or newer version?

There wasn't a 1980s Jaguar Bass. They came out around 2005

I tried out a player jaguar and it was very nice. I doesn't have the switches, but I liked that about it. You could add a preamp.

I have a couple CIJ models and a couple MIJ models. They are all I play these days. The CIJ necks are more Geddy-like, but the weather really affects the relief here in Chicagoland. My MIJ necks are fatter and I’m slowly replacing all of them with Warmoth. You should check out the Jaguar club. I don’t have the link handy.
