I can't view your description but I have a Made in Japan Sunburst Fender Jaguar Bass and absolutely love it. It was a gift from my wife and son and I think they paid right around 5 and a 1/2 for it. I prefer the Fender strings that actually came with it. A few years back I was looking hard at the G&L's because they were so full featured with all their tonal configuations. I got to play a couple G&L's in person and even though they are beautiful basses I realized the nut places the G string just a tad too close to the fret board edge so as I did roll/pull offs it would fret out. None of my other basses did that but it's still probably just the way I play. Anyways, what's nice about the Fender Jaguar is that it has so many tonal features (like what led me to the G&L's). It has Passive/Active switch, Active roll dials for cut/boost on each pickup Serial and Parallel switch, on/off neck and bridge switches all in addition to your typical Jazz bass passive Volume and Tone knobs. As you might guess it gives one a good number of options for tone and power tweaking. If I could do it all over again...I most certainly would.

Best Wishes in your quest,
