Fender Japan JB62-US

Just pulled the trigger on this one and wondering if anyone has any information? I was actually looking for a P bass but hoping this one maybe a little more versatile. Serial number P030529, crafted in Japan. By all accounts a Tokai Gakki gutar

Is it an Alder body?

Would they be bog standard US pick ups?

What is the connector joining the bridge to the bridge PU? Is it just a grounding thing or
a series / Parallel thing?

Are they considered a good bass?

Appreciate any help or comments

It’s the grounding strip. I read somewhere that back in the early years of the Jazz Bass, they didn’t have the tools to put the grounding strip inside the body so they simply put it on the surface exposed, then from around ’63 or so onwards they began putting it underneath. Since this is a ’62 reissue, they followed the old style and put it on top; I have two Japanese reissues like yours and both have it as well
