My medium scale MIJ jbass is the best I have owned. Then again, I have never owned a really high-end bass (more than two thousand bucks) but still, the mij is awesome. If i was looking for a new bass, I would look closely at one of these - worse case, send it back - sweetwater is pretty good with that.

Do you have data to prove this? My 1984 MIJ Fender Jazz Bass Special has not imploded (been using it since 2005 and it was already used before me ). My old Kramer Pioneer bass 1983 model - my first bass that I travelled with overseas in a gig bag is fine. They have held on the bridge, strap locks and knobs just fine and the neck pockets have not rotted, chipped or split. They have battle scars but nothing different than my 1972 P and old Telecaster. The MIJ just has a paint chip

No, just my own common sense, and observation of various Aerodyne basses I've observed over the years.

Do people here understand what INTERNATION colors are? It was a specific range in the early 80s. These are the colors in that range.

A lot of things happened in the 80s that don’t need to be revisited.

i’m not a Fender fan, but whatever happened to the 50 DuPont Duco colors that they used to offer back in the 60s? Some of these were hideous, but there were a lot of them that looked cool and it was easy to get something unique.

I do believe Ernie Ball uses Basswood in some of their instruments and thus it can't be all that bad as those things aren't cheap. They also make quality instruments so!!

These are specifically the International colors, it was a range from the early 80s. They are these colors VERY purposely.

Not a Fender guy but I've heard countless times the Japanese Fenders are as good if not better than some USA-made models, certainly better than the MIM basses.

I own some MIM Fenders and some are outstanding, especially for their price. I should know as I’ve owned a number of boutique and custom shop basses and guitars.

Love the colors, love Japanese Fenders. I bought one of those Boxer Precisions/Jazz Bass Special reissues a few years ago and it's fantastic. People whining about basswood must really beat the hell out of their instruments, because I've had zero problems.

I understand why Fender does that, but irrespective of these models, they don’t offer anywhere near the finish options that they used to years ago.

They do if you get Mod Shop or Custom Shop - even "back then" a lot of the colors were custom order.

Back in the good old days, Fender’s up charge for custom colors was fairly minimal. I see a fair amount of griping about Fender’s color selection, but to get a custom color would be a big up charge
