IIRC, they made the Sunset Orange until the 2008 American Std was released, so it was available until 2007. It may have been discontinued a year or two earlier though, but I know they were available as recently as 2005.
Your Jazz likely has the old S-1 switch, a push-button switch located on the neck volume knob that acts as a series/parallel switch. When pushed in, it will give the bass a thicker, more bottomy sound. Also, you'll have the thicker polyester finish, the old standard bridge (which has less mass than the newer bridges), more old-school tuners and a few other differences from the current Am. Std. Jazz.
I've played several of the S-1 era Jazz basses. While there were a few lemons to be found, most I found played and sounded very nice IMO. Now, they are a steal if you get a good one since everyone considers the new Am Std such an "improvement". IMO, other than the tuners and the case, the only improvement on the new ones is that they are more consistently good. But, a good S-1 era Jazz is every bit as nice as a good, post-'08 Am Std Jazz IMO/IME. YMMV.
