Fender Jazz Plus 5 truss rod size

Hi everyone,

I've got a Fender Jazz bass plus 5 string. It's from 1991 with the Kubecki electronics. I cannot find the right size hex key (Allen wrench) for the truss rod. It's accessible from the headstock.

3/16 is too big.
5/32 is too small.
4.5mm is too big.
4mm is too small.

So that means 11/64 (?) if SAE or 4.3 (?????) if it's metric
Again ??????????

If anyone has any advice, it would be much appreciated. Thank you

If it's the same as the nut in a 4 string Plus, I can check mine and get back to you. It's at my brothers place so I'll make sure to take my allen set with me next time I go and see what it is.

That said, based on the above info it sounds like it may be wallowed out.

I was worried that no one wanted to post a reply to this thread.

If you could check that out, that would be great! Of course I worried the same about the nut being stripped or wallowed out as you say. Lots of different "techs" have handled this bass over the years. Maybe some of them wrecked it. Now that I finally learned how to do some basic setup and maintenance, I'm appalled at what I've found in some of my basses!

I think it's less a matter of not wanting to help and more a matter of the low numbers of the Jazz Plus produced. There are just not a lot of them out there.
