Fender Jazz Question

Does anyone know when the "American Standard" was switched to the "American Series" I know that this years 2008 Precision/Jazz Basses are now the "standard"... are the series years the years of the S1 switch?

Yup, 2008 Fenders have returned to the 'Standard' name for the, um, standard American models. I say returned because I believe this was the original name back in the 60's and 70's...can someone confirm? I'm too lazy to Google.
