Hi guys, just noticed the side dots on my Marcus Miller Jazz bass have fallen down into the binding. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know of a good way to get them out of there? Its pretty annoying because I can feel it as I play... {}
I wouldn't bother trying to get them out. Buy a rod of side binding the right diameter and install new ones. With superglue, plyers and 800 sandpaper it's super easy to do. http://www.stewmac.com/Materials_an...Trim/Side_Dots/Plastic_Side_Dot_Material.html
The problem with doing that would be that a couple of them are still fine, and I dont think I'd be able to get it to match the others. It just seems weird that Fender drilled the holes too far, have you ever heard of this happening before?
I've seen it yeah I think they just use black putty filler instead of proper rods. Matching existing ones shouldn't be an issue. Superglue will bond with the finish and after sanding you won't see a difference.
