Sorry but that’s not correct. I just measured mine and the nut width is 1-1/2” just like the factory specs which are listed below:
The Fender JP-90 bass is a hybrid model produced from 1990 to 1993. It combines features of both the Precision and Jazz Bass, incorporating a P-style pickup (split-coil) and a J-style pickup (single-coil). The JP-90 features a poplar body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard and a 34” scale length.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of the factory specs:

The JP90 arrived today. It’s a 1990. The inside of the hardshell case smelled like cat pee.I cleaned the entire bass and Febresed it. The bass was in good condition. The previous owner had apparently placed a sticker down in the open area next to the lower horn. It had been removed but no one ever removed the adhesive left behind.
There was also a ding on the front edge where the tummy cut is. The previous owner used canned spray paint to hide it.
The only thing I found that I’ll eventually address is an oversized hole where the back strap button mounts. It’s secure but I changed it to one that use on all my basses and I found a 1/4”hole. Fortunately it wasn’t deep enough to affect a lot and I’ll fill it with dowel rod sometime in the near future.
On the sticker residue I used “Bug & Tar Remover” that’s clear coat safe and continued to rub it into the area. After about 15 minutes it as gone and the finish was once again shiny.
Next was the overspray and much to my surprise that worked on it as well.
I then tuned it up and plugged it in. All I can say is WOW! It plays like butter and sounds fabulous. The action is low.
I then waxed it. I don’t have any complete photos of it but here are some of the body.
I ordered an orange pearl pickguard, a new “Fender Corona California”neck plate, Since it has a black Hipshot bridge I ordered new black Schaller tuner and a black string retainer.
I’ll update when it’s done.
PS: I think this was a steal at $595 delivered.

Being that the States still use Imperial measurements rather than Metric, the former will always be gnats arse and the latter will always be rounded.

I hear ya buddy. I found somewhere on the web where it said the scale length was 34-1/2”. I didn’t check mine but seriously doubt Fender would build what was considered a “low dollar” bass and make it a completely different scales than any other bass they’ve built. That’s both odd and would cost more to build.
I received a response from Fender about the part number for the split P-Bass pickup in the JP90. The part number is 036436 000 but it’s no longer available. It’s pretty obvious that few people liked it the pickups so Fender deleted it from their offerings.
If any of you have ever thought of replacing your pickups I’d be interested in your JP90 pickups for a special project I’m working on. Also, I have a Bartolini Classics P-Bass pickup, that sells for $156, that I would trade even for the P-Bass pickup from you JP90 if that works for you, or I could buy your pickup.

Number 52 here with pics of the reworked JP90. Hipshot bridge, Stellartone Bass ToneStyler 10, Schaller Black Tuners, Kluson Black String Retainer, Fender Corona CA Neck Plate, Bitterroot Guitars Black Knobs /Strap Buttons / and Pickguard Screws, and a WD Custom JP90 Pickguard in Aqua Pearl.

UPDATE: Just wanted to let you know that my JP90 has become my “Go To” bass. It’s been getting most of my playing time over my Tobiases, MTD, P-Bass, J-Basses, Hofner, etc. I love it!
