Fender kingman

Hi everybody. I have a Fender kingman bass that i'm using for street performance only with a singer. I use pick and strung heavily to make decent volume. The problem I have is on the first fret. The A string makes a rattling noise probably touching the second fret. E string do it less and more low frequency so not is noticeable. But A string is very noticeable. What i can do?

Are you sure it’s rattling against the fret, and not buzzing in the nut? This is a common A-string problem for me, and I use a few more windings on the tuner to keep the break angle bigger. If you push on the string behind the nut, and the buzz goes away, that might be it.
