Hi everyone, I have used the search engine but I only seem to find threads about the subject the other way around, I mean, a jazz neck into a p body. I am lefty. I have a 2013 MIM Jazz that I seldom use. I really want to give the P bass neck a try (well, I would love to give the whole P bass a try, but I do not have the money right now and second hand ones do not come often nor are they cheap). There is a British e-bay seller (I live in Europe) that sells Fender P and Jazz parts and I was wondering if I could buy the P neck and give it a go. If a like it I could buy the body later on. Maybe a stupid question, because if you can fit a J into a P you should be able to do the contrary, but I´d prefer to ask... Will it fit? Thanks
Most Fender parts are interchangeable. Shouldn't be a problem if you take it easy and not force the neck into a tight pocket. Sometimes they slide right in, sometimes they need to be persuaded. Check back if you have problems. We can help you. Good luck.
1bassplayin is correct. The neck pocket is standard on both, but small variations in the making of the body and neck may mean the neck is very tight, perfect, or slightly loose. If it's slightly loose, there's not much you can do other than live with it. If it's slightly tight, the most important thing to do is not to force it...place the butt end of the neck in the body neck pocket, and rock it back into place. Don't try to slide it down from the top.
