Fender MIM Deluxe Active J Bass Control Plate

Anyone know where to get the control plate knob layout legends that are on some Jazz basses ? I called Fender support and they say they are only promotional bonuses and they can't get them. I thought it would come on the new bass I just purchased.

I've only ever seen them on American Deluxe basses in stores and I have never actually purchased one so I cannot tell you if they come with the bass when you buy it or if they are only put on the store demo model as Fender's reply would suggest. If they do come with all new American Deluxe basses then surely someone here on TB would sell you theirs for a few bucks. If I ever did get one I would not keep it on the bass and I'd be willing to send it to anyone who wanted it for the price of the postage. But I don't have one, sorry.

Call or write Fender and ask them to email you a service/maintenance manual for that specific model (keep your serial number handy, just in case). It should explain the function of each and every knob.

I've made it a point to get one for every factory bass I get. You never know when you may need a wiring diagram or part number.

Thanks for all the info and replies. I have the users and service manuals already. It's not the the lack of knowing the knobs and layout, it's just I like the unique look the added layout plastic plate gives the control plate. Fender support states that those control layout plates come with the Deluxe American and the Mexican builds as a promotional giveaway with some dealers.

Were you successful in finding one of those transparent control layout cards? I'm looking for one for an old 97 american deluxe I acquired. I too know the knob layout but wanted one for restoration purposes...
