Fender MIM Deluxe Active Series - WOW!

Ok...is it just me or are the MIM Deluxe Active bass lines amazing (for the price)?

I have a MIM Deluxe Active Jazz that I love. Plays/Looks great. I visited Guitar Center today to begin to look for higher-end basses to add to the collection. Played Warwick Corvettes, MM Stingrays, Fender American Precision and Jazz basses...and of course I was impressed by all of them. Great basses. Sticker shock. We all know the routine.

Then I picked up a MIM Precision Deluxe Active (with a P/J PUP setup) thinking...what the heck - it looks nice...and was again pleasantly shocked by the quality of the bass. The sound was powerful and clear - the neck/body was solid - the PUPs and controls gave a wide range of tone control and quality. All this for $600-700 bucks!

I'm now considering buying this bass and saving the extra $700-800 bucks. Anyone have any thoughts about this line? MIM growing in quality? Granted I may have to replace some things (BadAss II bridge add would be nice), but I'm now leaning towards this bass. Now only if they would come out with a neck with block-inlays. That was look great!

+1 for the MIM Active Jazz. I just bought my first yesterday from a guy for 350$ and its great. Black body with tortoise pick guard and rosewood neck. I played a frickin Squier P Bass at GC last week that was 300 dollars and blew me away, felt and sounded better than most of their fender basses, american or otherwise. I think Fender is stepping it up a notch with their mexican stuff as of late, though my bass is from 2002. Only thing I really care to add is a better bridge.

I have had a MIM deluxe active v for a lil while now, and it's amazing. I'm absolutely in love with the tone and playability of this baby. Personally whenever i pick up an MIA it just doesn't compare to me to my MIM, but it may just be because it's always in a GC that i try these.

goo foor it . u won't regret it.

i've heard that MIM quality can be hit or miss, but i've never played a bad one. FWIW, i own 2 MIM strats, a tele, standard jazz and standard P, all have been great. a steal for the price.

very hit or miss

I ordered my deluxe P from musiciansfriend and the frets are sharp and look like they are 20 years old, scratchy pots out of the box and bad wiring job. I played a deluxe P at a local store and it had nearly a flawless neck and body.

QC is hit and miss but if you spend time with bass before buying it you will know if you have a winner! when i bought my MIM i played all 8 MIM jazzes in the store and there where 4 there that i felt were very good and eventually chose which of those based on colour preferences. i say go for it! and +1 for the badass II
