Fender MIM.... These can sound good live!

But, it's a blanket statement.

A Gibson is a Gibson is a Gibson ect.

I do agree the differences in MiM and MiA can be minimal sometimes, I think I read wrong.
Between P and J, and the fretted and fretless, there are wide tonal differences.

But if you meant production locations (MiA MiM MiJ) basses. Then I agree.

I did mean production locations. I apologize for not clarifying. I agree that the difference between a precision and a jazz is huge.

I thoguht that the subject of the thread was production locations, though, so that's what I was referring to.

I have no doubt that the MIM sounds good. But remember, when you pay more for a bass, you are paying for quality, durability, and playability, not just sound. Is the MIM as easy to play as the sadowsky? I tired an MIM 70s jazz bass and . . . I can't describe it, but it felt lower quality. Mind you, I didn't know it was MIM when I tried it, so it wasn't any MIM prejudice.

I understand what you are saying but alot of people think cheaper cost = cheaper bass. Yes a Sadowsky should have that almost plays itself feel and for the coin they cost they better fo'sure!
But a good MIM bass will be provide all the quality ,durability and playability at a cost that you wont think twice about paying. I have never had a MIM bass fail me and i have had (6) not one problem only a minor neck adjutment here and their as normal. I think the OP was comparing the MIA to the MIM more than his Sadowsky. I wont fight a MIM v.s Sadowsky battle but i will fight a MIA v.s. good MIM anyday.

I think the OP was comparing the MIA to the MIM more than his Sadowsky.

Absolutely. My Sadowskys to me sounds better to me than a stock MIM Fender and a MIA does not sound much better than the MIM IMO. I have/had multiples of all 3, so I have A/B-ed them all. Is a Sadowsky worth 10x that of a MIM Fender? Nope. Is a Sadowsky worth 2x that of a MIA Fender? To me, yes... but to many, no. To each their own.

Having said that, my Sadowsky NYC is still brighter than most Fenders.... with the treble rolled right off and with old flats! I highly doubt the 65 year old guy playing country with his MIM P would last playing a Sadowsky for 5 minutes!

Thats what i was trying to say in a nutshell. IMO any high dollar bass in not worth the $ over a MIM again IMO for my gigging needs etc. Your Sadowsky worth 10x that of a MIM and a Sadowsky 2x the cost of a MIA is a perfect example.

I will say i am 46 soon to be 47 (God willing) and play country music. I wouldnt play a Sadowsky for 5 minutes over my MIM Ps if Sadowskys are that hot Dont get me wrong i would love a Sadowsky but i need a tame one!
