Fender Modern Player Jazz bass...5 string...yes 5 sting

So let's see if I have this straight… A Chinese made, jazz bass… With humbuckers that you can coil tap on…
and people are excited because it says Fender on the headstock?
Should be able to buy and mod an SX in this fashion for a total of about $400 give or take and I bet the pickups would be better too!

Have you ever played a bass from the MP series? I own one.

I'd really be shocked if it was that much - taking an similarly priced instrument, we can get the Modern Player Jaguar new here for £364, and it's looking like the standard US price is $399.

The 4 & 5 string versions are listed as the same price on andertons.co,uk, and considerably cheaper than the current MP Jazz, so I can imagine it'll go up.

Here's some more information on the new MP range:

Stick from Maplewood Studio also did a demo of the four a while ago for Anderton's.

I play my Chinese SX sometimes, its a high quality bass regarding wood selection.
My original point was lost amongst the Cult Of Fender;
Case in point- many of us bring up a quality bass made in china we get lambasted for buying in to the Globalist system.
However, put a "Fender" logo on the headstock, and all is right with that bass and right with the world.
Im sure these MP's are decent basses!

They might even be near the decent quality bass my SX is...

I think people who would object to basses made in Indonesia/China/Korea etc would object to these too... the people putting down Chinese instruments probably aren't the same ones excited about this range!

GAK in the UK have the 4 strings in stock in Sunburst and White, no sign of the Black finish or any 5 strings yet. Would prefer one with a maple neck, so hopefully they're not too far behind.
