Ordered hipshot lightweight tuners for my JMJ. Love the sound and playability of the instrument but stopped gigging with it because of the neck dive. Fingers crossed it makes a difference!

I'm curious as well. The HB10s are really good tuners IMO, but are pretty heavy. I have them on my Mustang, and am sorely tempted to go with Ultralites, but it seems a shame, when you're starting out with such a nice tuning machine.

Also, the holes don't match up exactly, and some modification is required. Hate to do that to a JMJ neck.

I did it to a Bronco neck, but that's a Bronco neck . I kinda "boogered up" the "E", but the rest came out okay.

Is the Road Runner a Short Scale Bass size? Therein lies the issue IMO. I would like to find a decent $100ish case/gig bag for my #1 shortie. I know Gator makes a really nice Electric Guitar soft case that can be made to fit, in the $200 range, but that's more than I want to spend.

I emailed Hipshot asking for the right fit and here's what they said:

The HB6L-1/2" with 18mm nut will fit the string post holes but will not "drop right in." You will have to drill one mounting screw per tuner:

I went for the mini clover for maximum weight loss. Hope it works!

The TI flats sound amazing on the JMJ.

I mentioned all those strings and more... Thomastik Infeld, Höfner Contemporary, Rotosound RS66M / RS77M, GHS 3140 ML Boomers / Super Steels Medium Scale, Ernie Ball Slinky Medium Scale 2856, DR Medium Short Scale, etc...

The TI flats JF324 and TI rounds JR324 are short scale strings but I think they are quite long... The TI strings are "special", they are floppy and rough under the fingers, they make Pino happy but not everyone...
