I’d do this, sell the blue Squier, get the burgundy vintera and buy the orange Squier and sure sell the jmj so everything remains with a stripe

That font is awesome! Was that pre generated or can you write custom stuff? I need one to say JAG-STANG BASS for a special build
The font is called “Rocketship from Infinity” - Not identical to Fender logo, but this is the closest font I could find. you can try it on here
I could see that, but the squier seems VERY orange and the Vintera looks more yellow orange and proper.
It will be a tough choice for me...
That is the issue I face everytime I am GASing a new bass. My wife or other people won’t tell the difference. Just another orange bass with a stripe
Funny enough before my wife left for work, I asked "I'm going to get one of these, which one?" and she immediately said the orange one
After trying out a bunch of different Fender/Squier Mustangs, I ended up ordering a JMJ to try one out. I loved it. The tone and feel of it is perfect. I kinda wish I could have ordered it from the factory without any of the relicing, but I’m fine with it.
My problem is the first JMJ I received had a defective tone pot and something odd going on with the volume as well. I was a bit miffed a certain multi-point inspection missed this, but thankfully, it was painless to do an exchange.
The new one arrived with a jack installed backwards making it a flight to plug in, which again wasn’t caught by the inspection. Thankfully, the jack was fixed quickly. I’m thinking it will need some shielding to see if I can eliminate a bit of hum I get when not touching it at home where the WiFi and dimmer lights seem to screw its any non-humbucking pickups. Or maybe there’s some nuclear waste in the ground here. No idea.
But this is a long was to gripe about getting two JMJs with problems. It’s a shame because it’s otherwise the best Mustang on the market.

Here’s the art I made for my Jag-Stang build I did a year or so ago. I made my own font when I couldn’t find one I liked.
I like the satin neck on the American mustang better than the JMJ but otherwise I think the JMJ or the Vintera (haven’t tried) would win. (The Am is great if you fix the loose wiring it has brand new out of the box and while you are at it switch the pickups to nordstrands. )

After my previous post, I ended up trying out a JMJ. It was pretty good, but mine had really bad fret sprout. I also really didn't like the fingernail dents they put all over the front of the bass. Like, I was willing to accept some relicing of the bass like wear around the edges and on the hardware, but adding some dude's nasty fingernail impressions is a bridge too far for me. So, I ended up deciding to put together a Vintera body with a JMJ neck instead. I like the look of the Vinteras, but the neck of the JMJ was wonderful. I bought a neck + body from The Stratosphere just now and it should be here in a few days.
I have a few questions I'm hoping you all can help me out with:
1) The pickguard on the Vintera looks to be the only thing preventing me from having truss rod access. Does anyone know if I can put a JMJ or American Performer pickguard on here and it will fit without modifications?
2) I would usually play the original pickups for a bit first before deciding to replace, but there seems to be a fairly widespread opinion that the pickups in the Vintera leave something to be desired, and I will already have the bass disassembled when I receive it. I'm thinking of getting the Nordstrand NM4 pickup instead, but I'm not sure if I can just reuse the covers for the current pickups and it will fit? Or else I have to leave them uncovered? What other pickups fit in here and are recommended?

I also went for a Vintera body, and JMJ neck from Stratosphere. But I went JMJ everything, except the body. The Vintera uses the smaller (40mm) pickups, and the base Norstrand NM4s are larger (44mm), as are the JMJ pickups (also 44mm). The body routs in the Vintera (as with several other bodies I tried) are big enough to accomodate the larger pickups. AS for pickguards/covers:
Here's mine. I used a JMJ pickguard and pickups, but I did Dremel a trussrod adustment groove in the body. Even with a Vintera PG, I don't see that being a big deal. Just go slow, or buy a JMJ (if you go 44mm) pickguard (still have to dremel the body).
Even then, the truss rod is not easy to access, and on this and other vintage style Fenders, I've followed this guy's method...
This one, though (JMJ neck on a Player PJ body), I did not bother to Dremel. It's just not that big a deal to loosen the neck for a yearly adjustment...
It turns out that the Nordstrand NM4 with covers removed fit in my Vintera II 70s without modding the pickguard .

Mainly because I need to do it twice a year it when changing string ty, but more importantly because the neck pocket isn’t perfect so when loosened it needs to be realigned when re-tightening which requires three hands and I find that process annoying.
However the nordstrand pickups are great and I dremeled my pickguard so I could use them with the covers, but probably would have been fine to just go without covers.

Did you buy the standard size that comes with covers and remove the covers? Or did you buy the vintage size that comes without covers?
Thanks for all the helpful tips! I did look for a loaded JMJ pickguard but couldn't find one... In this case, I think I'll just keep the Vintera pickguard and get the uncovered NM4 pickups. I agree that I can probably deal with a bit more complex truss rod adjustment once or twice per year.
I'm in a trial period to buy a 2018 Mustang. I notice a low level hum when plugged in, and I also hear some kind of momentary "scratch" when I turn the volume knob. Judging by the results of a search here for "hum" it seems that this is a normal part of Mustang ownership? I'm inclined to buy a new one to judge it by but I hate to spend the extra $200 if I can avoid it via a simple fix that others here would recommend I follow. Any thoughts from anyone?
