Fender Mustang Club

I've been on a Mustang kick lately...within the last month or two, I've gone from 0 to 3...well, more like 2.5 at the moment. In addition to a JMJ and an American Professional Classic, I picked up a new JMJ neck and Vintera II Competition Burgundy loaded body from the STRATosphere.

Do you have any idea of the pup in the JMJ and Vintera are the same? I cant find anything definitive even after asking 2 dealers. I know I love the sound of the Vintera from a Black Keys recording but Id gladly pay more for the USA one only if its the same pup/sound! Thanks for any help!

Ditch the switch..

I wonder how this would work on the PJ I modded with NM4s. If I flip the switch to middle it basically sucks a ton of the low end out. Curious if the knob would make that instant as soon as it’s not at 100% or it would gradually happen.
My Mustang PJ ( Player II) has a fantastic sound. Full on the two vol.knobs and just a little with a Tone roll off 25%. A Tonex One makes it 125% add to your sound. Now a thin pick and OMG this is a studio Pbass.

3 Way Rotary Selector Switch reduced.jpg

Yep!
Well, I've installed the rotary switch. I think it's a keeper. Not as easy to select quickly, but I hardly ever switch mid-song anyway and if I do, it's generally trying to fine tune my sound to fit the moment, which I can pick a time for. I haven't settled on a knob yet. This one, I had in the "parts box"; it's the bottom half of an active "P" stacked knob. The set screw is my position marker. Not sure what would look better.

I searched for a JMJ club but didn't see one specifically. Is that right?

I'm hoping to find a used one this year in black. I hope I didn't break forum rules by saying that. Feel free to PM me if anyone is selling and sees this post.

Anyway, enjoy the club! I've had 2 mustangs before and maybe a 3rd coming soon.

I believe you can post a wanted ad in the classifieds even without paying to be a member.

The good news is the JMJ has been around long enough that there usually are at least a handful available either here or on reverb.

I think the black one looks best with the black pickguard.

All
I have a Squier CV Mustang in which I put in Nordstrand NM4 and they sound fantastic in standard tuning. I also have a PJ Mustang, so I changed the tuning for the Squier CV to DCGF and with my current strings Fender Flats(45's same set on the standard JMJ) the sound is too dark and flabby. I've read that GHS M7200 Pressurewound 44-106 would be perfect for this.

Any success with DCGF tuning and which strings worked the best for you all?
