I cannot believe how awesome it is. The bluetooth is amazing. I can watch YouTube and jam along or watch a movie or TV and still practice and noodle around. Or play drum or background tracks. It's great. Only thing I wish it could do is take a phone call while I play. Maybe a future update.

I just got mine today and was not happy with the super obvious noisegate that was super buzzy and would cut out when the sustain died. I searched around and found a lot of similar complaints…. But I also realized that fender put a firmware update on their site a few weeks ago. I loaded it up and now the little amp is perfection. It’s so straightforward and simple. Way less complicated that firing up the Irig2 for silent practice and playing against tracks.

I did a quick laptop GarageBand test before the firmware update and it seems to be not as good as the Irig In this application. Input volume was super low and I couldn’t find a way to improve it… not to mention the monitoring is clunky. Apparently the volume thing is solved by the update.

I’m definitely keeping the Fender and probably keeping the Irig as well just for recording…. Unless I can figure out a good setup with the fender

Well my vox cheap one broke so I need a new one… the Bluetooth sounds really great but for bass, is it worth the price since we really won’t use the fx? I feel like the vox one actually has a decent tone to it, the volume not being loud on headphones is a little bothersome. I use to bring a sansamp and then a cord when I played with my jazz out an about just brought batteries, but it was able to make the input of the bass louder.

so I guess is it worth it? I used my vox one a bit so I’d like to get a new one but ASAP but I don’t want to just to quickly here. Seems like soem new ones came out since last I been looking.

Got mine about 2 weeks ago at the GC. Love it. For bass it really depends how you want to sound. I play it pretty clean with AKG cans so the bass amp setting is fine. I like it. Only gripe is it is hard to navigate the settings using the color change LED. But you can get used to it. I took it on a 10 day road trip and it worked great.

I LOVE it with guitar. Great blossom tone that is pretty convincing tubey model, edge of breakup.

I am 100% happy with it.
I’ve also run it behind a Protein OD.

No issues like that whatsoever. I hear that it can be noisy if you use it while charging. But if it makes noise from your jack, it may be worth looking into the jack on your bass. Do you have other instruments you can plug into to see if the problem follows the mustang?

I’ll try that to be sure, but when I jiggle it, the sound isn’t coming from the guitar jack, it’s definitely the headphone jack. I’ll let you know tomorrow when I get a chance to try my 6 string through it.

Mine had an issue when charging (red light blinking rapidly). It wasn't consistently borked, but annoying when it happened. It took a couple weeks but Fender ended up sending out a brand new one to replace it.

But no, no issues on the headphone jack side of things at all. I'd return it or call Fender to replace.

Okay, I tried with my fender player duo-sonic, and it was quiet as a mouse.

I then found that the jack nut on the bass is loose, so I cranked it down. That helped, but it’s not the end of the issue. At least I know which direction to look in now, and that I don’t have to return the micro.

I had the same notion, which is why I went with the blackstar amplug2 fly bass originally. But my practice area was near my WiFi router and the interference I was getting from it into the amplug was terrible. I went to the mustang micro thinking that it would probably have better shielding in it, given that it had Bluetooth built in. It is indeed unaffected by my WiFi router and sounds awesome. Also, it’s really nice to pair it wirelessly with my PC or iPad to practice along with accompanying music. It’s doable also with the Vox/Blackstar but needs a cable.

In 2023, what's the group's long-term review on how it's been used for bass?

I have the VOX Bass headphone amp, and it's fine, but the driver to also get a Mustang Micro is the easy integration of Bluetooth. I have the Rumble Studio and the modeling is great, but sometimes it's too many options where I just want to sit somewhere else and noodle along with a video or song.
