Fender neck question

I had a buddy who owned a tele bass that had the most interesting neck - it was a deep V, like an old boat-neck Strat...

When did Fender do that on basses? That's the only one I've seen like that, and I have to say for straight rock/blues it was really comfortable...

Thoughts?

The original 50's necks were like that. I didn;t remember the Tele basses having that style of neck but some might.

The early 80's fender Bullet Bass had exactly what youa re describing and is a great neck.

They can still be found for a reasonable price.

My memory of this bass was that was the VERY old P-bass style body (later renamed "tele") and had the small single-coil p'up... but it had been refinished, with the headstock matching the body and a new sticker. It might have said "Precision" - I don't quite recall. Sounds like it *might* have been a refinished very old P-bass (I recall he sold it for about $300 to someone)... But I do remember that I liked the neck quite a bit...
