Fender P Bass Fake or Real?

Im thinking older Squier w/a re-logo job. I feel like a lot of people don't realize how easy that is to do. Did that to a Stingray of mine a year ago after a headstock battle wound, and you can't tell anything ever happened.

DID she save the receipt ? ? ? It's a Fender-shaped-object, but it's not a genuine Fender bass.

It`s not even a re badged Squier never mind a Fender. So many things are wrong. It looks like a e bay knock off P copy.

As fake as a $3 bill. I don't recall seeing a P Bass with an upper truss rod access, and those if I am not mistaken, have the decal with the Precision Bass mark in a straight line. Also -could be the light or angle of the picture- that nut look like is not perpendicular to the neck. Leo is revolving on his casket from seeing a 7 screw bridge (he was a fanatic for minimalistic/efficient hardware).

100% fake. Tuners appear to be the same as used on the Glarry and other low end Asian imports. Pickguard only has 9 screws. The same as a Glarry and other low end Asian imports. That design bridge is for sure not a Fender design. Especially with the extra two screws on the front edge. However those same bridges are used on low end Asian Imports. Pick ups not Fender. You can see where the PG was roughly cut and enlarged to allow space for the mounting tabs. My guess is those pups are from Guitar Fetish or an import seller on eBay. Decal is pure fake all the way. Do you want me to continue? Or are you convinced that it's a total fake?

I sure hope the amp he traded was equally as cheap as this fake surely is.

Many of the newer MIM's have it. For example:
Fender Player Precision Bass - Tidepool with Maple Fingerboard

I have several with truss rod access at the headstock, all real, all purchased new. The genuine Fenders have a Strat-style walnut or black dyed inner "liner" ring on the truss rod hole, or a protruding rod end with no ring.

Agreed, though... definitely a fake in this thread. What stood out to me is no skunk stripe or features to match vintage instruments that didn't have the stripe. Invalid Link Removed

No way that is even close to the quality of any Squier Affinity I've played or seen. It's got to be one of the many other knockoffs.

How could you tell from that? Genuinely asking, all ways of identifying a fake is another weapon for me in the jungle that is online buying these days.

If you look at the headstock truss rod access on a MIM Fender, you will see that it is lined with a black plastic sleeve. Anytime you see a plain hole with bare wood inside, it is going to be a budget knock-off. It's a small detail, but it adds a level of finish quality to the finished product. I am pretty sure that a Squier Affinity even gets the truss hole liner.

Sorry about my poorly written sentence. What I mean to say is that P-Basses with upper trus rod access (at least, the ones I've seen/played) had the straight PRECISION BASS decal, not a wavy one.

One more thing: Nine hole Pickguard? I thought on P basses it's either 10 or 13.
