I did get to play the bass and look at the gap first hand. The neck does come out of the body at a slight angle. Is this adjustable or not?
You mean the neck comes off the floor of the neck pocket?
He's talking about the gap between the neck and the side of the pocket, as illustrated in the picture.
That's what it looks like - and if that's the case, I'd say he doesn't know what 1/4" looks like...

......I'm just telling you what I saw when I was looking first hand at the bass and asking for other people's opinions.... I wrote that it was 1/4" because that's what I saw.
So, the gap shrunk??? Based on the pictures, it's probably around 1/16", as another poster mentioned...

Based on the pictures, sure you could say it looks like 1/16" but I am not basing my 1/4" guess on the pictures. I'm basing that on what I saw when I held it in my hands and looked at it yesterday.

I think that while it looks 1/4" in person it is probably less if you measure it. I disagree with people saying it's not the original body because of that. There are times when Fender instruments get out there with large neck pocket gaps. It can be fixed a little bit by loosening the bolts and aligning the neck better but you need to be cautious it doesn't mess up the string alignment. I am not bothered by neck gaps on the side like that so if it sounded and played well I would not let it stop me from buying it. $200 would seem like a better price though.
That assessment was based on the OP's estimation of the gap at 1/4". You could fit some pencils in that. Judging from the picture, the gap is closer to 1/16" and I have no reason to believe the body is not original. That's why we asked for pics.
Yeah I apologize it wasn't specifically about what you wrote. MrUglyPants made the claim after the photos were shown. I suppose it's possible but I would doubt it.
I have the serial # that is on the neck.
Is there a serial # on the body too?
If so will they be the same or is there a way to check if they are origanally from different Bass guitars?
