Have a MIA P bass 26 years old and totally unmolested.
Started having static issues when plugged in and the cable wiggled, any contact whatsoever.
Tried spraying anti static spray but only gave minor improvement and didn't last long.
Put it into my tech to change our the output jack.
1. Took bass home (140 miles round trip) and it had no static but also had no volume. Tried several cables, several amps, all useless. Even an 800W amp on Noon volume was outputting unusable volume.
Took it back to tech.
2. The changed the volume pot while I waited. Same. Useless-no output. They thought wires may be un-lodged on pickups so would strip the bass and check them. I left the bass and went home.
Got a call that the bass was fixed, drover back for the 3rd time (140 miles round trip) and bass did not work. same issue. Tech was dumbfounded.
3. Pulled the pickups, added more solder, check everything, still no good. Changes the output jack to another new one and still no good. Changed both pots to new ones and still no good. They also put a meter on every item and verified correct readings for each component. Re-soldered all wires again to factory spec drawings and no good. Told them to keep it and not call me until it is verified as fixed.
Because a P bass is the most basic of all guitar wiring, any ideas on why this instrument refuses to work?
