Fender pick gauge

Good afternoon. I have been having troubles with finding the accurate thickness for Fender picks, they do not specific how thick their picks are. The just have the thickness label on them. Anyone who knows this?

I measure a Fender thin at 0.45mm. I thought I had a medium around here somewhere. If I find it, I'll measure and post the results.

I also wish to know the extra heavy thickness, and if the are useful for bass, since I do not like use from heavy to lower

Hello.

In general, Thin celluloid picks are .46mm, Medium ones are .71mm, Heavy ones are .96mm, and X-Heavy ones are 1.21mm. I say in general, because in reality their thickness can vary slightly, the celluloid sheets they use are not always exactly the same thickness.



In any case, these are the values indicated by D'Andrea on their [This invalid link has been removed] and I think they also make the Fender ones (but I may be wrong). I guess that the Dunlop and the Gibson ones have the same values.

But other brands offer other thicknesses. For example, Martin Medium ones are .73mm, and D'Addario ones are .50mm, .70mm, 1.00mm and 1.25mm respectively.

In addition, D'Andrea is the only brand I know to offer intermediate values for their celluloid picks (Thin/Medium is .58mm and Medium/Heavy is .84mm), which can sometimes be useful.

It seems the X-Heavy ones are perfect for bass. I've tried the H before, and honestly I didn't like them for the work. I prefer from 1.20 onwards

If you like celluloid but want a little more, Fender also makes the Invalid Link Removed and the new Invalid Link Removed. The Invalid Link Removed are really really good and the Super Heavy is 1.40mm. Finally, the Chinese brand Alice makes a 351 in 1.50mm, but the ones I have are not very well finished.

But if you allow me to make a suggestion: although they're from another material, you should take a look at [This invalid link has been removed], they are so good for bass.
