Fender Pick guards

While shopping for pickguards for my basses, I found this page:

What do you do when you have an instrument that is of unknown origin, or if the body is another brand like Warmoth or ESP?

Is there a difference between the Standard, American Standard and Mexican Standard pickguards? I notice there is also a section for "Jazz Bass." Which do I get for my bastard fender lookalikes?

I recently ordered from Fender (through a dealer) and installed a '66 Jazz pickguard on a 66 Jazz bass.
Several mounting holes didn't line up and the neck pocket cutout had to be trimmed a bit to allow the string margin to be set. Seems they don't know what they made back when.

If it is a Fender and has the original pots you can check the date code on the pots and that will give you an approximate year.

if these sites might have a gard for 08 Am St P-5? I've no luck in their stock invetories yet from searching. Roger @ Jeannies says if send him my gard he can make it happen.

Looks like I'll have to go custom unless someone can recommend another that'll make custom as well. My Lakland gards from Jeannies are always a good fit;

so I got that going for me. :smug:
